"Thank You Bridges, For Being The Light In One Of My Darkest Tunnels."
Meet Danielle
Bridges Client Danielle with her Case Manager, Shonte
In May, Danielle and her mother came to Bridges Outreach overwhelmed with emotion seeking assistance with $17,000 in rental arrears. With her mother in poor health, Danielle sacrificed almost all of her income to cover her mother’s medical costs to the point she faced and accepted her eviction. For three months, she paid $800 a week at a hotel, struggling to find a new apartment as she encountered obstacle after obstacle.
Throughout this period, Danielle received ongoing case management support via phone, text, and email from her Bridges case manager, Shonte. Shonte provided Danielle with housing options and emotional support. But finding a landlord to approve Danielle was challenging.
Shonte and Danielle never gave up on their search for housing. After numerous applications, Shonte finally found an available unit in Plainfield at the end of the summer, and Danielle was approved for an apartment.
In early September, Danielle and her three emotional support puppies moved into her new Plainfield apartment, ending her three-month period of homelessness.
